President of the Republic Meets with Members of “Rainbow Family” Association
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation of the “Rainbow Family” association including coordinators Mladen Kožić, Ivo Šegota, Daniel Martinović and Maja Škvorc and member Zrinka Znidaričić.
In their meeting with the President of the Republic, members of the “Rainbow Family” association informed him of their activities aimed at ensuring that all laws in the Republic of Croatia are non-discriminatory and inclusive for all citizens, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia. In this context, they welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court on the Foster Care Act allowing life partners to become foster parents. They underlined that the Foster Care Act should be amended in line with the Constitutional Court’s decision. They warned that the Family Act and the Assisted Reproductive Technology Act that are in effect put life partners in an unequal position and they expect a debate on these laws to be initiated and coordinated with constitutional values. “We are not asking for greater rights, we just want Croatia to be a society of equals for all its citizens”, the members of the “Rainbow Family” Association said.
President Milanović said that the Constitutional Court’s decision is good because everyone should be equal before the law and he supported the association in its promotion of the equality of all Croatian citizens.
