The Delegate of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić Attends the Observance for the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War in Vukovar

On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja, the delegate of the President of the Republic and Commander in chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, Orsat Miljenić, the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic, attended a commemoration for the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar 1991-2024 “Vukovar – a place of special homeland piety”.

The observance of the 33rd anniversary of the Vukovar tragedy started in the courtyard of “Dr. Juraj Njavro” National Memorial Hospital in Vukovar, then a memorial procession followed through the city led by Croatian defenders of Vukovar together with the family members of those who were killed, those who are missing, those who were forcibly taken and the deceased Croatian defenders of Vukovar headed by members of the Croatian police who defended Vukovar.

With the arrival of the Memorial procession at the Croatian Homeland War Defenders Memorial Cemetery honour was paid to the victims of Vukovar with a wreath-laying and a candle-lighting ceremony in front of the Memorial to the Victims of the Homeland War. Alongside the delegate of the President of the Republic, the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić also at the wreath-laying ceremony of the President of the Republic and Commander in chief of the Croatian Armed Forces were the Adviser to the President for Defence Ivica Olujić and the Adviser to the President for National Security Dragan Lozančić.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony in the Croatian Homeland War Defenders Memorial Cemetery, a wreath of the President of the Republic was also laid at the Memorial at the mass grave in Ovčara.
