Start of Croatian Soldiers Sports Competition “Physical Fitness Challenge – VIRIBUS UNITIS“

Today the 8th CROSSFIT competition for members of the Croatian Armed Forces and Homeland Security “Physical Fitness Challenge – VIRIBUS UNITIS“ was officially opened in the “1st  Croatian Guard Corps“  barracks.

This year, as in previous years, the two-day sports competition is being held under the auspices of the President of the Republic. The Head of the Office of the President Orsat Miljenić, the delegate of President Milanović, officially opened the competition. The “Viribus Unitis” competition is organized with the aim of promoting sports and sports activities, and developing the qualities and skills required by members of the Croatian Armed Forces to carry out daily tasks.

Fifty-five competitors will compete at this year’s Physical Fitness Challenge including 44 men and 11 women. It has an international character as three competitors are from Kosovo. Participating besides members of the Croatian Army are members of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration and the Croatian Firefighting Association. They will compete individually in four men’s and one women’s category.

Attending the opening of the competition were the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, the commander of the Honorary and Security Battalion Colonel Tihomir Zebec, and the deputy commander of the Honorary and Security Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Marko Čičak.  At the ceremony in addition to the Head of the Office of the President Orsat Miljenić were the Adviser to the President for Defense Ivica Olujić, the Adviser to the President for National Security Dragan Lozančić, the Assistant to the Head of Cabinet of the President Goran Grobotek, the Head of the Military Office Colonel Ivica Kranjčević, and the Aide-de-camp to the President Vlado Čulina.
