Sanja Musić Milanović and Letizia, The Queen of Spain, Visit SUVAG Polyclinic in Zagreb
The wife of the President of the Republic of Croatia Prof. Sanja Musić Milanović, Ph. D., and Her Majesty Letizia, the Queen of Spain, visited today the SUVAG Polyclinic for the Rehabilitation of Listening and Speech in Zagreb.
Under the expert guidance of the SUVAG Polyclinic Director Prof. Katarina Pavičić Dokoza, Ph. D., the wife of the President of the Republic of Croatia Prof. Sanja Musić Milanović, Ph. D., and Her Majesty Letizia, the Queen of Spain, visited the Preschool Centre of the SUVAG Polyclinic, where the multisensory laboratory was presented and short presentations were held on methods of stimulation by movement, phonetic rhythms (stimulation by movement and musical stimulation) and on individual hearing and speech rehabilitation. The phonetic correction method in learning the Spanish language was also presented on the occasion of Queen Letizia’s visit. A presentation on the general activities of the SUVAG Polyclinic was held, too. During its 60 years of activity, the SUVAG Polyclinic has grown into the largest rehabilitation centre in the region as well as a world centre for the education of professionals in the application of the verbotonal method, which was created by Academician Petar Guberina.
The project “Physical Activity Polygons for Schoolchildren,” implemented as part of the “Healthy Living” national programme, was presented to Her Majesty Queen Letizia in the multisensory playground of the Polyclinic. The physical activity polygon for schoolchildren, which the pupils spontaneously used during the Queen’s visit, was designed to aid physical education classes in Croatia, particularly in schools that do not have the required facilities, with the goal of maintaining, improving and promoting health and physical activity. The physical activity polygons were awarded by the European Commission as one of 16 best good practice models in the fields of health, education and sports related to the implementation of Goal 3 (Health), one of the 17 UN Global Sustainable Development Goals. In the SUVAG Polyclinic Preschool Centre, the educational picture book “Healthy Living in Preschool” was also presented with a dramaturgical and song performance of the story.
Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka Žarković was in the company of the President’s wife Prof. Sanja Musić Milanović, Ph. D., and José Manuel Zuleta y Alejandro, Secretary to Her Majesty the Queen of Spain, was alongside Queen Letizia.
