Representatives of Ruđer Bošković Technical School Present Regional Competence Centre Project to President Milanović
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today representatives of Ruđer Bošković Technical School in Zagreb, which designed and implemented the “Ruđer Bošković Regional Centre of Competence” project. The project, worth 6.5 million euros, is fully financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund, and was presented by the principal of Ruđer Bošković Technical School Đurđica Fuštar and project manager Ervin Palanović.
Presenting the concept of the “Ruđer Bošković Regional Centre of Competence” to President Milanović, they explained that it is the first example of connecting vocational education with the industrial environment in the whole of Croatia, but also in this part of Europe. It was created with the aim of increasing the relevance of vocational education through improved conditions in the electrical engineering and computing sectors. Principal Fuštar pointed out that the biggest achievement of the project is the creation of a foundation for quality education of young people and their preparation for the world of work by setting high standards of education.
They added that the sustainability and further development of the Regional Centre of Competence are supported by the City of Zagreb, as the founder, and the Ministry of Science and Education. In order for the Centre to start operating this year, the City of Zagreb still needs to ensure certain legal and technical prerequisites. The representatives of the Technical School believe that this should not be a problem, especially considering the importance of the Centre.
Last June, the Ruđer Bošković Technical School celebrated 75 years of existence, successful work, excellence and recognition, and the school’s pupils together with their mentors achieve numerous top results at various competitions, meetings and exhibitions in the field of innovation, technical creativity of youth, computing, mechatronics, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics and the like, it was said at the meeting. Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
