President of the Republic Invites Prime Minister to Urgent Meeting Today to Agree on Candidate for New VSOA Director
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović has issued a call today to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković once again inviting him to a meeting. The message reads as follows:
“Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
As you are aware, the term of the outgoing director of the Military and Security Intelligence Agency (VSOA) General Ivica Kinder ends on 10 July 2023. Since the two of us have still not discussed and agreed on a candidate for the new VSOA director, I invite you to an urgent meeting to discuss and agree on a candidate for the VSOA director as prescribed by the Constitution and the law, and in accordance with the usual practice for all past appointments of heads of security and intelligence agencies.
At the same time, I feel that the problems that have burdened that agency for years cannot simply be solved with the appointment of a new VSOA director. Our meeting is all the more necessary for us – as the only ones authorized by the Constitution and by law – to discuss and agree on guidelines for systemic changes in the operation of this agency in the future.
Considering the importance and urgency of the topic, I propose this meeting to be held today.”
