President of the Republic Hosts Celebrated Croatian Basketball Players
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović hosted the celebrated Croatian basketball players, members of the Yugoslav national team that won the World Championship in Ljubljana in 1970.
Petar Skansi, Ratomir Turdić, Damir Šolman and Nikola Plečaš are members of the famous group of five that was on the top of the basketball world 50 years ago. The only person missing from the famous group of five from the lunch with President Milanović was the late Krešimir Ćosić.
The final match of the World Basketball Championship was held on 23rd May 1970 in Ljubljana between the national teams of the former Yugoslavia and the United States of America. It was considered the key moment in the development of Croatian basketball that has since become an exceptionally popular and acclaimed sport.
