President Milanović Visits Special Hospital for Children with Neurodevelopmental and Motor Disorders on World Health Day
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited today on World Health Day the Special Hospital for Children with Neurodevelopmental and Motor Disorders Goljak.
In the company of Hospital director Dr. Ivana Kern, PhD, the Head of the Developmental Rehabilitation Service, Ervin Žučko, the president of the Hospital Management Board, Debi Živčić Tomić, the Deputy Head of the City Office for Social Protection, Health, War Veterans and People with Disabilities, Romana Galić and the Assistant Head of the Health Sector of the City of Zagreb, Mirela Šentija Knežević, President Milanović toured the only specialized hospital in Croatia that deals with the systematic monitoring and habilitation of neuro-risk children from birth to adulthood.
After the tour and the presentation of the work of specialists of physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychology and diagnostic EEG tests, Montessori education rehabilitators and sensory integration therapies, President Milanović viewed the facilities of the Day Hospital for infants and young children and the Day Hospital for high neuro-risk children. President Milanović concluded his visit to the Special Hospital for Children with Neurodevelopmental and Motor Disorders by touring the Day Hospital for School-aged Children.
During the tour, President Milanović was introduced to the work of the Hospital, where 330 patients accompanied by their families come daily for examinations, diagnostics or therapy, which accounts for 52,000 patient visits per year. The Hospital has a total of 231 employees, and the doctors are specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation, specialist paediatricians and narrow specialists in paediatric neurology. The Hospital prides itself on its consistency and tradition of caring for children, as well as its highly educated medical staff, as well as the robotics system that helps them in their daily professional work.
Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković and the Deputy Head of the Cabinet of the President Ivana Pušonjić.
