President Milanović Visits International Prosciutto Fair in Tinjan
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović today visited the exhibitors at the International Prosciutto Fair (ISAP 2024), being held in Tinjan for the 16th time.
The International Prosciutto Fair (ISAP) has been held in Tinjan on the third weekend of October since 2006, when the Municipality of Tinjan declared itself the Municipality of Istrian Prosciutto. It is one of the most important tourist and economic events in central Istria, attracting more than 25,000 visitors annually.
Accompanied by the Fair’s host and organizer, the Head of the Municipality of Tinjan Goran Hrvatin and the President of the Municipal Council Igor Antolović, President Milanović visited the exhibitors at this year’s International Prosciutto Fair, which is being held from 18 to 20 October. Around forty prosciutto producers from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain, and Montenegro are participating. Since ISAP also provides an opportunity for other local producers to promote their products, not just prosciutto makers, the Fair features cheeses from various producers, wines, and many other products.
Every year, the most successful prosciutto makers are awarded plaques and recognitions for the quality of their products, and the champion of the Fair is also declared based on the evaluation of an expert committee composed of members of the Association of Prosciutto Sensory Analysts – GUSTUS, which was founded in Tinjan in 2010. During the ISAP in Tinjan, expert meetings, lectures, and presentations are organized on the topics of prosciutto production, the valorisation of indigenous products, and ecological production.
