President Milanović Visits “Dom Tigrova Rakitje”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited today the “Ustanova za sveobuhvatnu skrb ‘Tigrovi’” (‘Tigrovi’ Comprehensive Care Facility) in Rakitje, an accommodation and rehabilitation facility founded by the City of Zagreb for the purpose of improving and enhancing comprehensive care for war veteran in need of such services.
After touring the Comprehensive Care Facility for members of the 1st Guards Brigade ‘Tigrovi’ and the Ministry of the Interior SWAT Unit Rakitje, President Milanović held a meeting with representatives of the Facility and the leadership of the “Udruga Tigar 90/91 Rakitje” (Rakitje ‘Tigar’ Association). A presentation was held on the Facility’s programmes, which include professional help to users in overcoming difficulties, temporary accommodation and lodging to Croatian Homeland War defenders and their families.
Temporary accommodation is available to users when undergoing treatment, for studying or exercising rights as well as to those in dire social conditions in need of housing, and to other Croatian Homeland War defenders and their families, accommodation capacities permitting. Furthermore, the Facility hosts a wide range of activities, namely, sports & recreational, cultural & artistic, crafts, agricultural as well as international cooperation and computer sections in which numerous workshops are organized for users.
Member of the Presidency of the Rakitje ‘Tigar’ Association retired Brigadier General Darko Rukavina made a presentation on the “Memorial room” construction project, in memory of all the killed, perished and deceased members of the 1st Guards Brigade ‘Tigrovi’ and the Ministry of the Interior SWAT Unit Rakitje, whose completion is expected by October 2022.
Attending the meeting with President Milanović were representatives of the (‘Tigrovi’ Comprehensive Care Facility Lidija Modrušan and Lucija Andabak, the president of the Rakitje ‘Tigar’ Association retired Staff Brigadier Petar Bajan, members of the Presidency of the Rakitje ‘Tigar’ Association retired Brigadier General Darko Rukavina, Colonel Rajko Perić, retired Colonel Zdravko Andabak, Lieutenant Colonel Nikola Županić, retired Lieutenant Commander Željko Herceg and Association secretary Ivan Bošnjak.
Alongside President Milanović were the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković and the president of the Commission for Military Decorations and Awards of the Republic of Croatia retired Major Josip Stojković.
