President Milanović Tours Špancirfest in Varaždin

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited Varaždin this evening where he toured Špancirfest, one of the largest and most popular cultural and tourist events in Croatia. Špancirfest has been held for 26 years in a row, and, from 23 August to 1 September, transforms se Varaždin into an epicentre of creativity and fun known even beyond Croatia’s borders.

This most popular and largest street festival in Croatia revives the historical core of Varaždin with a wealth of content and events for all generations, creating a unique atmosphere that makes it recognizable and sets it apart from the rest. In ten days, the festival offers more than 500 programmes and combines all the best from music, street performances, art, to creativity and gastronomy.

The streets, squares and parks of Varaždin are transformed into music, theatre, dance and performance stages, open air studios with a rich exhibit and gastronomical offer. President Milanović toured exhibitors in Kukuljevićeva, Uska, Umjetnička, Gajeva and Kranjčevićeva streets as well as King Tomislav, Franciscan and Miljenko Stančić squares.

In his tour of Špancirfest, President Milanović was accompanied by his host from Varaždin and Varaždin County, the mayor and deputy mayor of Varaždin Neven Bosilj and Miroslav Marković, respectively, the president of Varaždin City Council Lovro Lukavečki and Varaždin County-prefect Anđelko Stričak as well as Varaždin Tourist Board director Jelena Toth.

Alongside President Milanović was the Head of the Cabinet of the President Bartol Šimunić and the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
