President Milanović to Take Part in Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit of Heads of State in Skopje

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović will participate in the Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit of heads of state, which this year is being held in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia. At the Summit President Milanović is taking part in the capacity of co-chair of the Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit together with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pric Musar.

The heads of state participating in the Brdo-Brijuni Process Summit in Skopje will discuss accelerating the process of EU accession, combating the effects of climate change and mitigating its effects, retaining the youth within the Western Balkans.

Participating in the Summit in addition to the Presidents of Croatia, Slovenia and North Macedonia are the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj, the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović as well as all three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić, Denis Bećirović and Željka Cvijanović.

Shortly after being elected to office, the President of Slovenia confirmed at her first meeting with President Milanović in February that Slovenia wants to continue the Brdo-Brijuni project together with Croatia, and agreed that the host would be the President of the Republic of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski. The gathering in Skopje will be the 12th annual Summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, which was jointly launched by Croatia and Slovenia with the aim of fostering cooperation among South-East Europe countries, and accelerating the process of EU accession for the states that are already negotiating their membership in the European Union or were granted candidate status for EU membership.
