President Milanović to Attend Meeting of Heads of State of the Arraiolos Group in Poland and Visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial State Museum

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović will be on a working visit to the Republic of Poland from 9 to 11 October. In the Polish city of Kraków, he will participate in the 19th meeting of heads of state of the Arraiolos Group and visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial State Museum where he will pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and of Nazi crimes.

The Arraiolos Group brings together heads of state of the European Union without executive powers, and they meet once a year to discuss the most important topics of interest to the European Union. The main focus of this year’s meeting in Kraków will be on transatlantic relations in the context of global challenges and threats. The main meeting will be held on Friday, 11 October in the historic Wawel Castle in Kraków, and the heads of state will discuss strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the United States of America, the security of Europe with a special emphasis on energy security, the enlargement of the European Union, and the role of the EU in the reconstruction of Ukraine. The heads of state will also discuss the long-term perspectives of transatlantic cooperation, which is considered crucial for the preservation of international peace and stability.

On Wednesday, President Milanović will visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, memorial museum located on the site of the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz in Oświęcim. There, he will pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust and of Nazi crimes, and tour the premises of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum under expert guidance.
