President Milanović speaks with President of Montenegro: Resolution on Jasenovac harmful act of daily politics

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović held a phone call today with the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović on the topic of the Resolution on Jasenovac adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro on Friday.

President Milanović expressed his view to President Milatović that the resolution is a harmful act of daily politics that unnecessarily burdens relations between the two states and that it is necessary to continue building good neighbourly relations between the two states in order to avoid undesirable consequences as a result of the resolution’s adoption.

Croatia has so far supported Montenegro in accession negotiations, confident that the state truly wants to secure a place for itself in the European Union.

President Milanović believes that a European Montenegro must find the strength to pursue a state policy that is in its own interest.
