President Milanović Signs Decision Appointing Daniel Markić as Acting Director of SOA and Candidate Proposal for Deputy Director

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović today signed the Decision on the Appointment of the Acting Director of the Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA), appointing Daniel Markić as Acting Director of the SOA for the period from 6 July to 31 August 2024.

President Milanović today also signed the Candidate Proposal for the Deputy Director of the SOA, which establishes that Hrvoje Omrčanin is the candidate for the SOA Deputy Director. We remind that after his term of office as SOA Director expired, Daniel Markić was appointed as Acting Director of the SOA on 6 May 2024, until the appointment of the Director, and for a maximum period of two months. The SOA has not had a Deputy Director until now, although the Act on the Security and Intelligence System of the Republic of Croatia mentions the position of a Deputy Director. President Milanović considered it necessary to appoint a SOA Deputy Director and insisted on it.
