President Milanović Signs Book of Condolences for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović signed today the Book of Condolences opened in the Apostolic Nunciature in Zagreb for His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. After signing the Book of Condolences, President Milanović spoke with the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Giorgio Lingua.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away on 31 December in Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in Vatican City at the age of 95. The funeral for the Pope will be held on 5 January 2023 in Saint Peter’s Square, and His Holiness Pope Francis will preside at the Requiem Mass.

President Milanović earlier sent his condolences to His Holiness Pope Francis on the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

Accompanying President Milanović at the meeting with the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Giorgio Lingua was the Adviser to the President for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić.
