President Milanović Receives Winners of Annual Awards for Young Scientists and Artists
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today members of the Society of University Teachers and Other Scientists and this year’s winners of the Annual Awards for Young Scientists and Artists for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific and Artistic Work. The Society is the oldest association of university teachers in Croatia, which has been operating continuously since 1919. Its work has contributed to the development of the University of Zagreb and Croatian science.
The Society has been presenting the traditional Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific and Artistic Work covering all scientific fields for 26 years. Attending the meeting were Society president Aleksandar Maršavelski, vice-president Alka Obadić, the president of the Society’s Annual Award Committee Mladen Franz, and administrative secretary Hrvoje Tadić.
At the meeting, this year’s laureates, winners of the Annual awards were presented to President Milanović: Annual award for work in the area of social sciences, field of economy – Marijana Bubanić (Faculty of Organization and Informatics), Annual award for work in the area of technical sciences, field of mechanical engineering – Petar Filipović (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture), Annual award for work in the area of technical sciences, field of electrical engineering – Mirna Gržanić Antič (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing), Annual award for scientific monograph in the area of social sciences, field of sociology – Ivan Perkov (Faculty of Croatian Studies), Annual award for work in the area of natural sciences, field of biology – Najda Rudman (Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry), Annual award for work in the area of technical sciences, field of chemical engineering – Ana Selak (Croatian Geological Survey), Annual award for work in the area of biotechnical sciences, field of biotechnology – Danijela Šeremet (Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology), Annual award for work in the area of social sciences, field of law – Nikša Vojvoda (Faculty of Law), and Annual award for work in the area of biomedicine and healthcare, field of dental medicine – Ema Vrbanović Đuričić (School of Dental Medicine).
The award winners presented their projects and research for which they were awarded to President Milanović, and discussed their further plans and ambitions. President Milanović congratulated them on their awards and told them it would be nice and good for them to pursue their careers in Croatia.
So far, 278 laureates have received the Annual Award for Young Scientists and Artists for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific and Artistic Work, said representatives of the Society of University Teachers and other Scientists. They added that 49 candidates applied for the award this year, of all of them outstanding, and the 10 best works were selected by decision of the reviewers.
Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Education Jadranka Žarković.
