President Milanović Receives Representatives of Tourist Board of Nin and Šokolari Association of Nin
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today representatives of the Tourist Board of the town of Nin and the Šokolari Association of Nin who informed him of preparations for this year’s Šokolijada, the most significant gastronomic event of the town of Nin.
This unique event was launched 23 years ago to preserve the tradition of making an exceptionally high quality and rare delicacy – šokol and to expand family production. It is a traditional cured meat product that has been prepared since the 17th century, and thanks to the Nin šokolijada, the tradition of making this very rare and indigenous Nin product has been preserved. The director of the Tourist Board of the town of Nin, Marija Dejanović, presented the history and tradition of making this gastronomic product to President Milanović, saying that, thanks to family producers from Nin and its vicinity, šokol has become a recognizable tourist product of Nin and Zadar County.
Representatives of the Tourist Board of Nin and of the Šokolari Association announced that the proclamation of the best šokol maker of the year, along with the final Šokolari Festival, will be held this July, and asked President Milanović to be the patron of this year’s 23rd Nin Šokolari Festival, which the President accepted.
Attending the meeting in addition to the director of the Tourist Board of the town of Nin, were the manager of the Tourist Information Centre of the Tourist Board of the town of Nin, Ana Glavan, the president of the Šokolari Association of Nin, Slavko Štulić, and Association vice-presidents Marin Dejanović and Šime Skočić.
Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Velibor Mačkić.
