The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović received today a delegation from the Alliance of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Croatia (SABAH) on the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory Over Fascism Day.

The members of the delegation informed President Milanović about the preparations for commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, which the Alliance, in cooperation with the City of Zagreb, will mark with a series of events. The central event will be a ceremony on 8 May at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, which will be held under the auspices of the President of the Republic.

Franjo Habulin, President of the Alliance of Anti-Fascist Fighters and Anti-Fascists of Croatia, explained that, in addition to commemorating the victory over fascism, the Alliance will also organize a round table on the end of World War II on 5 May, as well as the Trnjanski kresovi (Trnje Bonfires) in Zagreb on 10 May. Habulin emphasized that the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism is a significant event, especially as it also marks the liberation of Croatia and Zagreb, as well as Europe Day.

Alongside the President of the Alliance, the delegation also included Nataša Mataušić, President of SABAH’s Section for Monumental Heritage, and Mišel Mrkoci, Head of Information and Archival Materials.
