President Milanović Receives Croatian Traditional ITF Taekwon-Do Association Delegation
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today at the Office of the President a delegation of the Croatian Traditional ITF Taekwon-Do Association composed of athletes and members of the national team who competed in the traditional ITF Taekwon-Do European Championships in late March of this year in Poreč.
At the meeting, representatives of the ITF Taekwon-Do Association introduced President Milanović to the basics of the sport and the association’s activities, and acquainted him with the results achieved in the traditional ITF Taekwon-Do European Championships. Likewise, due to the good reputation and quality performance of numerous athletes, they announced the possibility that next year the Croatian Traditional ITF Taekwon-Do Association will host the World Championships. It was mentioned at the meeting that today there are over 220 taekwon-do clubs in many Croatian cities and that thanks to its continuous successes in international competitions, in both ITF and the Olympic WTF version of the sport, Croatian taekwon-do enjoys a good reputation in Europe.
The future of ITF taekwon-do in Croatia was discussed at the meeting. In February 2021 the traditional ITF taekwon-do was included in the list of sports in the Nomenclature of Sports of the Republic of Croatia, the delegation said. The Croatian Traditional ITF Taekwon-Do Association was established as early as the following month.
Attending the meeting at the Office of the President were the President of the Croatian Traditional ITF Taekwon-Do Association Nenad Seferagić, coaches Branko Fibinger, Edi Višković, Adam Hercog and Emin Duraković, as well as these athletes: cadet Ana Nemarnik, cadet and EC gold medallist Beata Ivas, cadet Magali Paliska, cadet and EC silver medallist Noa Šveger, cadet and EC bronze medallist Filip Migles, junior and EC bronze medallist Ana Jović, junior and EC silver medallist Zoa Vivoda, junior and EC bronze medallist Anai Ražnjević, advanced junior and EC bronze medallist Martina Grabar, advanced junior Iva Bročić, junior and EC bronze medallist Dino Ivas, junior and EC bronze medallist Ivano Čelić, junior Marino Storić, junior Matan Katalinić, advanced junior Matej Sarvaš, advanced junior Karlo Katinić, advanced junior Michael Stenta, senior and EC bronze medallist Sara Pešut, senior and EC bronze medallist Marko Džin, junior Gea Seferagić Pliško.
Commissioner of the President of the Republic for Sports Željko Jovanović was alongside President Milanović.
