President Milanović Participates in Aqaba Process Summit to Discuss Southeast European Security

The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović participated today in Sofia in a summit held within the framework of the Aqaba Process, co-chaired by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

The summit focused on the current security environment in Southeast Europe, with particular emphasis on combating illegal migration, terrorism, radicalization, and extremism. Discussions also addressed opportunities to enhance cooperation, share information, and coordinate efforts in response to security challenges, including those associated with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

In addition to President Milanović, the meeting was attended by the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj; the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željka Cvijanović; the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani; the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar; the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić; the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović; and the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. Alongside the heads of state, high-ranking officials from Belgium, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Norway, France, the United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Japan, and the United States also participated, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the European Union, OSCE, Interpol, and the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism.

Assistant Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Ivan Mutavdžić and Adviser to the President of the Republic for National Security Dragan Lozančić accompanied President Milanović at the meeting.

Ahead of the Aqaba Process summit, President Milanović met in Sofia with the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu.
