President Milanović Participates at North Atlantic Council Committee in Washington
On Wednesday the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović and his delegation participated in a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at which the heads of state and government of member states of the Alliance discussed key strategic issues and decisions that are critical for the very future of NATO. A wide range of decisions were adopted at the NATO Summit including the establishment of NATO mechanisms of security assistance and training for Ukraine as well as a political commitment to long-term security and military assistance for Ukraine. Furthermore, a political commitment to bolster the capacity of the defence industry was adopted, followed by a commitment to further boost the resilience of NATO members in support of the Alliance’s defence, as well as an Action Plan for the Alliance’s Southern Neighbourhood. All these decisions were included in the Summit Declaration in Washington, which was also accepted on Wednesday at the Summit.
Members of the official delegation accompanying President Milanović at the North Atlantic Council meeting were the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anušić, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to NATO Mario Nobilo and the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Defence Ivica Olujić.
Following the meeting, the heads of state and government and their spouses, including President Milanović and his spouse Sanja Musić Milanović, attended a social dinner in the White House hosted by the President of the USA Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.
