President Milanović Opens 7th Sports Competition of Croatian Soldiers “Physical Fitness Challenge – VIRIBUS UNITIS“

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović attended the opening of the 7th edition of CROSSFIT entitled “Izazov tjelesne spremnosti – VIRIBUS UNITIS“ (Physical Fitness Challenge – VIRIBUS UNITIS) for members of the Croatian Armed Forces and Components of Homeland Security in the 1st Croatian Guards Brigade barracks.

“These are elite units, not average ones. May the best ones win and congratulations to the winners beforehand. Viribus Unitis – Domovini vjerni” (Loyal to the Homeland), President Milanović told the competitors and declared the 7th Physical Fitness Challenge open.

The “Viribus Unitis” competition is organized with the goal to promote sports and sports activities and develop new characteristics and skills that are applied in everyday tasks of members of the Croatian Armed Forces. Also, competing encourages community and socializing as well as the joint support of institutions which, besides the Croatian Army, contribute to the development of the systems of Homeland Security, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Croatian Firefighters’ Association and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service

Attending the opening of the competition were the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces ADM Robert Hranj and the Deputy Commander of the Honorary and Protection Battalion LTC Marko Čičak. Alongside President Milanović were the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic Orsat Miljenić, the Head of the Cabinet of the President Bartol Šimunić and the Head of the Military Office of the Cabinet for Defense and National Security RADM Predrag Stipanović.
