The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today representatives of the Bloc Pensioners Together (Blok umirovljenici zajedno) at their request: president Milivoj Špika, vice-president and secretary-general Dražen Štiglić and member of the Presidency Ivan Kresonja.

At the meeting, they discussed the difficult financial situation of pensioners in Croatia, and especially pensions, which, the Bloc warned, are not sufficient for a dignified life of Croatian pensioners. Representatives of the Blok told the President of the Republic that the announced adjustment of pensions will not help pensioners and that changing the formula for calculating pensions is a key measure that can permanently improve the status and position of pensioners, i.e. increase pensions and ensure a better quality of life for pensioners.

President Milanović reiterated his position that the Croatian pensioners are the ones most affected by the price increases and living expenses, and that the state must find a model that will increase pensions and permanently ensure a quality and dignified life for Croatian pensioners. In circumstances of economic growth, the state has the opportunity to do so, and it also has the obligation to rectify the injustice towards pensioners, believes President Milanović.
