The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received the leadership of the Party of Pensioners, headed by the party’s President, Lazar Grujić. In accordance with its Statute and the discussions within the party bodies, the Party of Pensioners unanimously adopted the decision to support President Milanović in the upcoming presidential election. They informed President Milanović of this decision during the meeting.

According to Lazar Grujić, the Party of Pensioners will urge its members, sympathizers, and the general electorate, especially pensioners, to vote for President Milanović in the election. President Milanović thanked the Party of Pensioners for their support. The meeting discussed the difficult position of Croatian pensioners, with representatives of the Party of Pensioners pointing out that the current government is not doing nearly enough to ensure a better standard of living, adequate care, and dignity in old age.

President Milanović reiterated his position that Croatian pensioners are currently the most affected by injustice and feel the effects of economic growth the least among all societal groups. He informed the representatives of the Party of Pensioners that as President, he will vocally address pensioners’ issues and advocate for improving their standard of living and all their rights. According to President Milanović, it is unacceptable for pensioners to be the poorest segment of Croatian society, as they are today. He agreed with the representatives of the Party of Pensioners that the state must ensure long-term legal and institutional protection for the elderly.

The delegation consisted of President Grujić and Deputy President Jura Mučnjak, members of the Presidency Anđelka Bijelonjić from Istria County, Marko Mijić from Zadar County, and Vesna Horvat from Karlovac County, who is also the spokeswoman of the party, as well as Mirko Bijelonjić, President of the Central Committee of the Party of Pensioners, and Mladen Novosel, Secretary General.
