President Milanović Meets with Organizers of Old Town of Konjščina Medieval Fair

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the Head of the Municipality of Konjščina Anita Krok and representatives of the association Grofovija Konjski [Konjski Earldom] on the occasion of the upcoming 14th Old Town of Konjščina Fair. The event will be held under the auspices of President Milanović on 13 May 2023.

At the meeting, the Head of the Municipality and representatives of the association informed President Milanović of developments in regard to the preparations for this year’s event, which is traditionally held in memory of Ban Nikola Zrinski and the events of 1545, when Turkish detachments on their way to Vienna were stopped in Konjščina. Describing the programme, the delegation said that dances will be performed at this year’s fair, including Renaissance dances, and replica dresses from the 16th century will be on display. The old traditional way of life will be showcased and performances by knights’ societies will take place, and old crafts will be displayed too, the delegation said.

The association Grofovija Konjski from Konjščina, the event organizer, has been active since 2007 and its mission is to promote and develop the cultural, archeological and historical heritage of the Old Town, as well as to take full advantage of the area’s tourist potential.

Apart from the Head of the Municipality of Konjščina and President of the association Grofovija Konjski Jasna Lugarić, the meeting with President Milanović was attended by association members Nevenka Benjak, Marija Frčko, Sanja Plenar, Leona Martinjak, Silvana Gluhak, Gordana Juranić and Davor Gluhak.

President Milanović was accompanied by the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
