President Milanović Meets with Defense Minister of Albania Niko Peleshi
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania Niko Peleshi, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.
At the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic, they discussed the current security situation in South East Europe, and agreed that steps aimed at reducing tensions and stabilizing the situation are necessary. As allied states, members of NATO, Croatia and Albania concurred that cooperation, peace and security are not just a joint interest and a mutual goal, but also a priority for South East Europe. They further discussed the two states’ bilateral relations that have been assessed as friendly, and President Milanović confirmed that Croatia will strongly support Albania in the future as it has done until now on its path towards membership in the European Union.
Accompanying the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Albania at the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic were the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Croatia Riza Poda, Deputy Ambassador Alma Kasa, the General Director for Defense Policy Gjergij Methoxha, the Adviser to the Minister Fatjon Hoxhalli, the Director of the General Staff Colonel Aleksander Pando, the Director for Modernization Lieutenant Colonel Perparim Arriku, and the Head of the Foreign Policy Section Ornela Uzuni.
Alongside President Milanović were the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, the Adviser to the President for Defense Ivica Olujić, the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić, and the Military Attaché of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Albania Colonel Stjepan Domjančić.
