President Milanović Meets with Chief of General Staff and Armed Forces Commanders

The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović met today with the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, and the Commanders of all branches of the Croatian Armed Forces.

At the meeting held in the Office of the President, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Kundid, informed President Milanović about the priorities and main activities of the Croatian Armed Forces planned for 2025. Additionally, he briefed him on the implementation of the equipping and modernization of the Armed Forces and the planned procurement of military equipment. The discussion also covered the state of the reserve component of the army and the need to strengthen the human resources of the Croatian Armed Forces.

President Milanović assured the military leadership that he will continue to advocate for the development and strengthening of the Croatian Armed Forces in line with the needs and priorities outlined by the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces. He also emphasized that he will persist in protecting the Croatian Armed Forces from day-to-day and partisan politics, and reiterated his firm stance that strategic and highly complex defense issues must be addressed at the Defense Council, where the participation of all state authorities responsible for defense is mandatory.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces was accompanied at the meeting by Major General Krešo Tuškan, Director of the General Staff; Major General Boris Zdilar, Assistant Head of the General Staff for Healthcare; Major General Blaž Beretin, Commander of the Croatian Army; Major General Michael Križanec, Commander of the Croatian Air Force; Commodore Damir Dojkić, Commander of the Croatian Navy; Major General Slaven Zdilar, Commander of the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Croatian Defense Academy; and Brigadier General Ivan Raos, Deputy Commander of Support Command.

President Milanović was accompanied at the meeting by Orsat Miljenić, Head of the Office of the President; Ivica Olujić, Adviser to the President for Defense; and Brigadier General Ivica Kranjčević, Head of the Military Office in the Cabinet for Defense and National Security.
