President Milanović: Kosovo is a reality and Serbia will have to get used to it, and that’s not easy
“That was a private speech, Komšić does not speak on behalf of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina or all its citizens. What he said in the UN is bad, those are statements that can trigger terrible associations among ignorant and uninformed people. Among other things, he compared Plenković to Putin for criticizing an idiotic ruling of the court in Strasbourg. Those judges are pretending to be peacemakers, earlier their function was specific, but what they are doing now, especially with Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a coordinated action led by Komšić and his like-minded people from the international community. Those judgements are idiotic and dangerous as they are an attempt to change the Dayton peace agreement. That’s impossible. This paves the way to conflicts”, President Milanović noted in commenting on the address by the member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić in the UN.
Reminding past judgements of that court, President Milanović warned that the new judgement compromises the rights of the three constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “The agreement between the three constituent people put an end on the war, and we should adhere to it if we do not want conflicts to recur, and we should not engage in sabotage aimed at installing someone in the BiH Presidency thereby robbing an entire constituent people. This is an attempt to coerce Bosnia and Herzegovina into altering its Constitution – this is impossible because there is no majority to do this. The court in Strasbourg in collusion with Komšić and some politicians in Brussels are exerting pressure on the three constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina to change the constitution, which was reached after blood had been shed. This will not pass as long as I am politically active”, President Milanović stated, adding that he hoped “this government will also act in this way or the new one after the election”.
President Milanović commented on the statement by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić related to President Milanović’s call to UN Member States to recognize Kosovo as a state. In addition to calling on Serbia and Kosovo to keep to the agreement and what they had signed, the President of the Republic stated that he supports “the right to the existence of the Albanian people in Kosovo and the state of Kosovo and supports their membership in the United Nations. Serbia can obstruct that and is already obstructing it, but Serbia is aware that Kosovo is a reality. It’s not easy but Serbia will have to get used to it”, the President of the Republic underlined.
