President Milanović: Investigators are in the Ministry of Culture with reason, we’ll see who is lying
“They should know more than I, but someone is lying. We’ll see who. In recent days we’ve heard so many lies, our resistance and tolerance level are quite high, but the lies that have been told in recent days…. I can’t accuse the Minister of lying, but investigators are there for some reason. That‘s what Turudić and Plenković want to abolish since Turudić is his parrot. They are there now in the presence of the police by order of the attorney’s office. In the future that would likely be impossible because we’ve heard that it should be abolished”, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović told the press when commenting on police investigations in the Ministry of Culture by order of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO).
Referring to Prime Minister Plenković’s claims that he should have reacted to judge Ivan Turudić’s actions in 2015 when he was Prime Minister, President Milanović stressed that “two wrongs don’t make a right”, and added: “That’s not an excuse, that’s impudence because in recent days we’ve witnessed the trampling of human dignity. Now you’ll see when the storm hits, how you fare when you trample on the dignity of the Croatian people. This is spitting in the face of Croats who have brains”.
Speaking further about Ivan Turudić, President Milanović said: “Yesterday they caught Plenković’s landloper lying again on RTL. It seems that Mamić drove him to RTL. How sweet”, he said, adding that this is not about reduced expression but about lies. “In a huge conflict of interest, that enters the sphere of a criminal act. This is an abuse of elementary ethical rules. Imagine Turudić with the powers of the EPPO, so they could all arm themselves”, he noted.
Answering a question on the introduction of military service in Croatia, the President of the Republic said: “It would be normal for Minister Anušić to comment, he is a reasonable person, it’s clear to him what time it is. He was a soldier in the war, he understands what it’s all about”.
