President Milanović in Požega: We’ll do everything to motivate youth for voluntary military training
“You have chosen military training as few young people in our country. It would be better if there were more of you, but there are not,” the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović said at the oath-taking ceremony of the 39th generation of military training volunteers at the 123rd Croatian Army Brigade barracks in Požega.
President Milanović congratulated the young soldiers for taking the oath, underlining the importance of their commitment to the Croatian constitution, the laws and the principles of equality and freedom. He noted that young soldiers who have chosen military training are few and far between and expressed hope that as many young women and men as possible would join the army. “We will do everything within democratic and legislative frameworks to motivate young women and men as much as possible to take part in this,” the President added.
A total of 71 soldiers, 60 men and 11 women, took the oath today. President Milanović wished them successful training, good health and no injuries, and encouraged them to think about military life as a unique career and way of life. He told them that it is a serious calling and that it is not for everyone, but is confident that they are among those for whom it is.
Attending the oath-taking ceremony of the 39th generation of military training volunteers were the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Admiral Robert Hranj, the Deputy commander – Chief of Staff of the Croatian Army Major General Tihomir Kundid, the Commander of the Guards Armoured Mechanized Brigade Colonel Valentin Skroza, the Commander of the Training Centre Colonel Milan Čorak, the Commander of the “Damir Tomljanović Gavran” NCO School Colonel Ivica Pejaković, and the Deputy commander of the barracks Lieutenant colonel Damir Grgurić.
Accompanying the of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces were the Head of the Military Office of the Cabinet for Defense and National Security Colonel Ivica Kranjčević and the Aide-de-camp to the President of the Republic Colonel Vlado Čulina.
