President Milanović Gets COVID-19 Vaccine and Tells the Public: People, Get Vaccinated, the Vaccine is Here to Help
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received on Thursday the COVID-19 vaccine and called on all citizens to get vaccinated. In addition to President Milanović, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Robert Hranj also got vaccinated.
“I call on all those who want, and also on those who don’t want or are hesitant, to get vaccinated, because the vaccine was not made ‘by heart’, but has gone through a very rigorous approval process and it will certainly help. I think that when we arrive at the moment when there is more vaccine available than people who are willing to get vaccinated, that will be a turning point. People, get vaccinated, it’s better than getting sick. Not less bad, but better”, President Milanović said to members of the media after receiving the vaccination.
He warned that anyone who consciously refuses to get vaccinated takes on the responsibility for their own health, given that the vaccine is free and available. “There will be less burden on the system when those people who are at the greatest risk get vaccinated”, President Milanović added. Before getting vaccinated the President consulted a doctor and stressed that everyone should do that.
“Ahead of us is a year when we will have to start over for the umpteenth time, in order to reach certain development goals. As we can see, our democracy is functional. We do not storm representative bodies and we accept election results. And that is encouraging for Croatia at a time when a model country was practically on the verge of collapsing yesterday”, the President of the Republic concluded.
