President Milanović Endorses work of Society for the Preservation of Croatian Military Tradition
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović met today with the leadership and members of the Society for the Preservation of Croatian Military Tradition from Bjelovar, which manages the Museum of the Operational Zone and Assembly Area Bjelovar and the gallery “Barutana 1991.”
The Society for the Preservation of Croatian Military Tradition preserves and promotes the values and dignity of the Homeland War and encourages and popularizes scientific research activities related to Croatia’s war and military history, said the President of the Society and curator of the gallery “Barutana 1991” Marin Sabolović. He explained to President Milanović that the gallery “Barutana 1991” is not of a local character and that it is not only related to the Homeland War in the Bjelovar area, but rather showcases more than 700 war and military museum pieces and items related to the Homeland War in Croatia. In his words, some 17 thousand visitors visited the gallery last year alone.
President Milanović was informed about the plans to expand the exhibition of the gallery with new, valuable exhibits and items related to the Homeland War. The Society for the Preservation of Croatian Military Tradition also participates in the activities of the wider local community in view of marking important dates in contemporary Croatian history, organizing forums, round tables, lectures and book promotions.
The President of the Republic endorsed the activities and goals of the Society for the Preservation of Croatian Military Tradition and agreed that it is important to preserve and promote the truth about the Homeland War.
Also attending the meeting in the Office of the President, apart from Society President Marin Sabolović, were the Project Manager of the gallery “Barutana 1991” Otavia Samodol, Manager of educational and sales activities of the gallery “Barutana 1991” Barbara Dijanović, Society Vice President Lieutenant Colonel Darko Banjeglav and Presidency members Zlatko Sabolović and Predrag Banjeglav.
President Milanović was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for Homeland War Veterans Marijan Mareković.
