The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the staging of the Peasants’ Revolt at the Stubički Golubovec castle in Donja Stubica, which marked the 450th anniversary of the Croatian-Slovenian Peasants’ Revolt in Donja Stubica. The event was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic and with the support of the Town of Donja Stubica and Krapina-Zagorje County.

Several hundred extras and participants staged the largest battle of the Croatian peasants for their rights thus reconstructing the 1573 Peasants’ Revolt. Apart from Croatian knights’ associations also participating in the staging of the Peasants’ Revolt were guest associations from Slovenia and Slovakia. The depiction of the Peasants’ Revolt through this historical battle has been held for the past fifteen consecutive years. It represents a major tourist attraction today that has outgrown the County’s borders and has become one of the leading cultural and tourist events in Hrvatsko Zagorje.

President Milanović watched the Peasants’ Revolt in the company of Krapina-Zagorje County-Prefect Željko Kolar, the mayor of Donja Stubica Nikola Gospočić and Deputy County-Prefect Jasna Petek. Also attending the event were Members of the Croatian Parliament Peđa Grbin and Siniša Hajdaš Dončić as well as the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
