President Milanović Attends Sisak Beer Fest
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended the Sisak Beer Fest, which is being held for the tenth time. It is a beer fest that has been held in Sisak city centre since 2015, and offers excellent types of beer produced by domestic brewers.
Craft breweries presented at this year’s festival included: @Crafter’s, PriMarius Craft Brewery, PIVIONICA, Turopoljska, Zeppelin Craft Brewery, Lepi Dečki Brewery, Šibenik Brewery, Saperlot Craft Brewery, Zibel Association, Aurora Association, Luna Distillery and Medvedgrad Brewery.
President Milanović, in the company of the mayor of Sisak Kristina Ikić Baniček, toured 13 representatives of breweries and beer producers showcased at the beer fest. Apart from tasting local types of beer at the exhibitors’ stands, visitors are able to learn first-hand all the details of the production of beer, making this beer fest even more special.
The tradition of beer production in the city of Sisak dates as far back as 1855. Then a Czech named Novak came to the city and started production in a building that exists to this day and is the oldest industrial facility in the city. This brewery changed owners during the course of history, and at the end of the 19th century it came into the ownership of a wealthy Sisak-Zagreb Alexander family, which was also the owner of the Zagreb Brewery. On the occasion of the establishment of the first brewery, a tour of the routes of Sisak breweries is organized every year at the Beer Fest, which is also part of the programme of the Industrial Heritage Day in Sisak.
Alongside President Milanović was the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic for the Economy Velibor Mačkić.
