President Milanović Attends Opening of Majerje Sports and Recreational Centre in Petrijanec

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended today the opening ceremony of the new Majerje Sports and Recreational Centre in Petrijanec, built with the aim of unifying sports activities of children and youth, sports clubs and recreational players.

In addition to the existing large football field, additional sports amenities were built within the scope of the centre: a small football field with artificial turf of a 2400 m² area in accordance with FIFA standards, a beach volleyball court, a small athletics track with a street workout park and a basketball court.

The project, valued at approx. €448,000, is co-funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, and the Municipal budget. The goal of this project was to make optimal use of the specific space and enable a wide range of outdoor activities, thereby further contributing to the development of the local community and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Addressing the guests at the opening ceremony were the president of the Municipal Council of Petrijanec Martin Evačić, Varaždin County-prefect Anđelko Stričak, the mayor of Pregrada and member of the European Parliament Marko Vešligaj, and the Head of the Municipality of Petrijanec Željko Posavec.

Alongside President Milanović was the Commissioner to the President of the Republic for Sports Tomislav Paškvalin.
