President Milanović Attends “Easter Holster of Kostel”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended today in Kostel the 501st edition of the event “Easter Holster of Kostel” [“Kostelska uskrsna pištola”].
The “Easter Holster of Kostel” is a unique 500-year-long tradition from the Croatian Zagorje region that cultivates the custom of shooting from a pistol under the medieval fortress of Kostelgrad. It has the status of intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia. This year’s edition of the “Easter Holster of Kostel” was held at the traditional location, the medieval fortress of Kostelgrad. The event started in 1523 as a custom of shooting from a pistol at Easter time, also marking the arrival of spring. It remains an all but unchanged tradition to this day and a popular tourist attraction, as well.
President Milanović was accompanied by Melita Mulić, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Human Rights and Civil Society.
