President Milanović Attends Commemoration for Vjeran Zuppa

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović attended a commemoration for late Emeritus Professor Vjeran Zuppa, which was held on Friday in the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb.

Speaking about the late Vjeran Zuppa at the commemoration and the significance and importance of his intellectual, dramaturgical, theatre and literary activity were the dean of the Academy of Dramatic Art Davor Švaić, philosopher Nadežda Čačinović, writer and playwright Sibila Petevski, dramaturge Sergej Pristaš, and director Nenad Puhovski. Actor Vili Matula read excerpts from Vjeran Zuppa’s well-known theatre study “Štap i šešir”, and a short film was featured on this prominent Croatian intellectual who passed away on 10 October at the age of 83 years.

Vjeran Zuppa was a dramaturge, literary theorist and poet, theatre theorist and critic. Especially important for the Croatian theatre is his work as dramaturge and longstanding director Teatar ITD. He was one of the founders of the study of Dramaturgy at the Academy of Dramatic Art. He also served one term as dean.

Vjeran Zuppa was born in Split, graduated and earned a Doctor’s degree in Zagreb in 1993 with a theatre study on the Concept of Dramaturgy in the 20th Century.

Alongside President Milanović at the commemoration was the Adviser to the President for Culture Zdravko Zima.
