President Milanović Appoints Major General Blaž Beretin Commander of the Croatian Army

The President of the Republic of Croatia and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, Zoran Milanović, has issued decisions regarding the appointment of military commanders effective 22 July 2024. This follows a proposal from Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, and with the consent of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ivan Anušić. Major General Blaž Beretin has been appointed as the Commander of the Croatian Army, Colonel Dražen Batrnek as the Commander of the Croatian Army Training and Doctrine Command “Fran Krsto Frankopan,” and Colonel Željko Marinov as the Commander of the Croatian Army Guards Armoured Mechanized Brigade.

Likewise, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, at the proposal of the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces and with the consent of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, has issued a decision on the assignment of Colonel Damir Stručić, who is assigned to the position of Deputy Commander of the Croatian Defense Academy “Dr. Franjo Tuđman,” effective 22 July 2024; a decision on the extension of the assignment of Major General Gordana Garašić to the position of Chief of the Planning Directorate of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, effective 1 August 2024; and a decision on the extension of the assignment of Brigadier General Mijo Validžić to the position of Chief of the Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, effective 15 August 2024.
