President Milanović: A Pro-European Montenegro Is Important for Croatia as a Neighbour and NATO Partner
The President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović and the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović continued their bilateral talks on relations between the two states at a meeting held on Brijuni island.
On the second day of the Official visit of President Đukanović to the Republic of Croatia, the two presidents further exchanged information and views on Montenegro’s negotiations regarding its accession to the European Union. President Milanović confirmed the Republic of Croatia’s support for Montenegro’s European path.
Furthermore, the two presidents discussed the situation in Montenegro and South East Europe. President Đukanović underlined that Montenegro has to continue developing as a democratic, secular and pro-European oriented state, while President Milanović noted that the Republic of Croatia will support Montenegro’s aspirations because it is also important for the Republic of Croatia since Montenegro is its neighbour and partner in the NATO Alliance.
The meeting on the island of Brijuni ended the two-day Official visit of President Đukanović to the Republic of Croatia.
