Leadership of Viteško alkarsko društvo Sinj Society and Mayor of Sinj Announce Presentation of Alka of Sinj in Vienna

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today a delegation of the Viteško alkarsko društvo Sinj Society (VAD) and of the town of Sinj. The delegation of the Viteško alkarsko društvo headed by President Stipo Jukić and the Mayor of Sinj Miro Bulj informed President Milanović of preparations for this year’s Alka of Sinj knightly tournament, which will take place on 6 August. As is previous years this year’s Alka of Sinj event will be held under the auspices of the President of the Republic.

Plans of the Viteško alkarsko društvo were discussed at the meeting to further promote the Alka of Sinj knightly tournament abroad. The leadership of the Viteško alkarsko društvo Society informed President Milanović of a three-day promotion of the Alka of Sinj, which will be held this June in Vienna. The Alkars of Sinj will present themselves with a demonstration competition, a parade of the Alkars and a concert.

The promotion of the Alka of Sinj in Vienna will showcase not only our traditional knightly tournament, but at the same time will promote our cultural heritage, tourism and the gastronomic specialties of Sinj, of the entire Cetina region, and of all of Croatia, the president of VAD Stipe Jukić and Mayor Bulj explained.

Accompanying the President of VAD and the Mayor of Sinj at the meeting with President Milanović were the Vice President of the Viteško alkarsko društvo Sinj Dinko Bošnjak, Secretary Ivan Nasić, Duke Mario Šušnjara, Commander Ivica Filipović, member of the VAD Board of Directors Frano Vrančić, member of the Honour Court Tomislav Župić, and the Deputy Mayor of Sinj Denis Bobeta.

Alongside President Milanović was the Adviser to the President for Human Rights and Civil Society Melita Mulić.
