Easter Greetings from the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović

Easter is a holiday that is considered the cornerstone of Christianity as it celebrates the victory of life and a new beginning, while essentially celebrating the triumph of humanity. Therefore it is accepted throughout the Christian world as the greatest holiday, and its essential meaning is celebrated not only among believers but also as the greatest secular value.

In today’s dramatically changing world, where these changes often reveal a lack of humanity, highlighting and celebrating the values of Easter is necessary in every society that desires peace, security, and tolerance among people and nations. Without humanity, kindness in people and love for others, all achievements of modern society which we took for granted as indestructible foundations of the future can easily collapse.

Just as people in the restless world around us need hope and encouragement, so do Croatian people, whether believers or not, need hope and encouragement that things can be better for everyone and that light will overcome darkness. Confident that the values of humanity will ultimately prevail, my wish is for this upcoming Easter holiday to mark the beginning of a re-evaluation of everything we do because each of us can do more and better for the benefit of Croatian society.

To everyone in our Homeland as well as Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world, I wish a happy and blessed Easter. May the days of the Easter holiday be filled with peace and joy, and may you spend them surrounded by family and friends.
