The President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović took part in a celebration marking the 29th anniversary of the foundation of the Croatian Air Force at the “Pukovnik Marko Živković“ barracks at Pleso.

“A difficult year is behind us, but there were even worse ones. A year full of uncertainty lies ahead, and soon one of the most important decisions in the history of the Croatian army awaits you, a decision that will be made by Croatian politics, the Croatian state leadership, the Croatian Government – a decision on the procurement of multi-role fighter aircraft. This decision will not be significant to the world, but will mean that we feel better and safer. Your work will be done in a more serious and modern way”, President Milanović said in his address.

“The air force is expensive, it’s not just airplanes but years-long maintenance”, the President stated, and added: “It includes better radar equipment for Croatia. We have to know, if we’re already flying, what’s approaching us in the sky”.

“A year of uncertainty looms in which we will win”, President Milanović noted, and once again called upon all those who are undecided to resolve to get the vaccine. “We will win the virus that is among us by getting vaccinated”, he said.

On the occasion of the foundation of the Croatian Air Force, the President of the Republic and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Zoran Milanović together with Defence Minister Mario Banožić , the Chief of the General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj and the Commander of the Croatian Air Force Brigadier General Michael Križanec, presented promotions, commendations and awards to Croatian Air Force employees.
