Collection of Papers from “King Zvonimir” Scientific Conference Presented to President Milanović

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received today the authors of the Collection of Papers of the “King Zvonimir” Scientific Conference. The collection contains ten papers from the symposium held in Knin in June 2022 under the patronage of the President of the Republic and gives new insights into the great Croatian ruler who reigned in Knin at the end of the 11th century. The Collection of Papers “King Zvonimir” was published by the University of Zagreb and the Knin Public Library, and the promotion was held in February this year in Knin.

Presenting the Collection of Papers to President Milanović, the authors pointed out that the “King Zvonimir” Symposium was the first scientific conference on King Zvonimir in independent Croatia. The symposium brought together 20 eminent Croatian scientists who discussed various topics such as the situation in Europe during Zvonimir’s time and the situation in the Croatian Kingdom, Zvonimir’s death and “Zvonimir’s curse”, and the significance of the capital of the kingdom itself, the city of Knin.

In addition to the organizer of the Symposium and editor of the “King Zvonimir” Collection of Papers, the director of the Public Library – Knin Ivica Šimić, the meeting in the Office of the President of the Republic was attended by the speakers at the Symposium and the editors of the Collection of Papers from the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tomislav Galović, Prof. Dr. Ivo Goldstein, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvija Pisk and Maja Tabak Demo; from the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Basić; from the Ministry of Culture and Media, Conservation Department in Šibenik, Dr. Marko Sinobad; from the Department of History of Art of the University of Zadar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Josipović; reviewers of the papers in the Collection of Papers Dr. Ivan Armanda from The Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography and Prof. Dr. Hrvoje Kekez from the Department of History of the Croatian Catholic University; speakers at the Symposium, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antun Nekić from the Department of History of the University of Zadar and Dr. Maja Petrinec from the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments in Split, and the Mayor of the City of Knin, Marijo Ćaćić.

Alongside President Milanović were the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Education Jadranka Žarković and the Adviser to the President of the Republic for Foreign and European Policy Neven Pelicarić.
