Christmas Greetings of President Zoran Milanović to Christians Celebrating Christmas according to the Julian Calendar

I wish a Merry Christmas to all Orthodox believers in Croatia, our fellow citizens who will celebrate the most joyous Christmas holiday tomorrow.

The celebration of Christmas is an occasion for family get-togethers and a demonstration of love and care for our loved ones as well as an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and show kindness to all people. With a wish that Christmas for all those who celebrate be filled with family joy, health and peace, I hope that by next year everyone will be able to celebrate this holiday in their homes as is fitting.

As an organized and modern society with diversity as an inherited value, we must always and anew be ready to show tolerance and understanding for all the people to whom Croatia is home. I am confident that we will celebrate this holiday in earnestness and in joy with our fellow citizens of the Orthodox faith. To all of you who are celebrating, I extend the traditional greeting “Peace of God! Christ is born!”
