Agreement reached on Decision giving authority to coordinate work and sign documents within the remit of the VSOA, President Milanović to sign Decision as soon as it is delivered to him
An agreement has been reached on the Decision giving authority to coordinate work and sign documents falling within the remit of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency (VSOA), and the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović will sign the Decision as soon as it is delivered to him today.
According to the agreed Decision, Colonel Ante Kujundžić will be in charge of coordinating work and signing documents within the remit of the Military Security and Intelligence Agency (VSOA) pending the appointment of the VSOA Director, and for no longer than one month. He will have limited powers, and among others, he will not have the authority to submit written proposals for secret data gathering. The Decision comes into force on 11 July 2023.
Given that the Prime Minister has finally agreed to the constitutionally prescribed procedure for the appointment of heads of security and intelligence agencies, and since in the case of the VSOA it is a temporary solution, President Milanović calls for the process to discuss and agree on candidates for the new director of the VSOA to begin immediately in accordance with the constitutional procedure. President Milanović also calls on the Government to urgently address all outstanding personnel issues in the Croatian Armed Forces and the diplomatic service, which require an agreement between the President of the Republic and the Government. As far as President Milanović is concerned, discussions aimed at reaching an agreement can begin immediately.
