President of the Republic Decorates Members of “Prva samostalna satnija Podsused”
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received a delegation from the “Prva samostalna satnija Podsused” (First Independent Company Podsused), the first armed volunteer and independent unit in the Republic of Croatia not affiliated to the Interior Ministry, which was established on 9 September 1990.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the “Prva samostalna satnija Podsused” President Milanović reached a decision on the decoration of members of the Company. For displayed courage and heroism in the Homeland War, the President of the Republic of Croatia awarded the Order of Duke Domagoj with Ribbon posthumously to retired major Siniša Ratković. The Order of Ban Jelačić, for exceptionally successful commanding of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and outstanding military merit in their structuring and development, was awarded posthumously to major general Gordan Čačić. For outstanding contribution to the development and reputation of the Republic of Croatia and the welfare of its citizens, the Order of the Croatian Interlace was awarded to Anđelko Cerovec and Ivan Jozinović, and posthumously to Renato Smes.
Members of the Company acquainted President Milanović with the circumstances and conditions under which the Company was established as well as its military activities during the Homeland War. During the Homeland War, it comprised 255 members, one of their members was killed and a dozen were wounded. In the delegation of the “Prva samostalna satnija Podsused” were retired brigadier Željko Prpić, retired captain Tomislav Jelić, second lieutenant Mladen Vuk and privates Tomo Jambrišak and Mladen Tršan.
