President of the Republic Receives Representatives of Croatian National Nurses Federation
On the occasion of International Nurses Day observed on 12th May, the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović received representatives of the Croatian National Nurses Federation. The President of the Republic, who is also patron of International Nurses Day, extended his congratulations to the delegation and thanked them for their great contribution in containing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and treating the sick.
“I pay tribute to all of you for your professional and dedicated work, and thank you for your unselfish contribution to the fight to preserve the health of each and every human being. Your job has always been important, and the current situation we are in as a result of the coronavirus pandemic further demonstrates the importance of public services like yours thanks to the huge contribution made by nurses to medical institutions and the social care system. It is therefore imperative to protect your profession during this crisis and in light of this I endorse the aspirations of the Croatian National Nurses Federation to preserve the rights of the workers”, President Milanović stated.
The representatives of the Croatian National Nurses Federation thanked the President of the Republic for his support and this meeting because it demonstrates the importance and the role of nurses in the healthcare system. Attending the meeting with the President of the Republic were the president of the Croatian Chamber of Nurses Mario Gazić, the head nurse of the Andrija Štampar Teaching Institute of Public Health Cecilija Rotim, the executive secretary of the Croatian National Nurses Federation Biljana Kurtović PhD, the president of the “Udruga oboljelih od raka pluća i drugih bolesti pluća Jedra” [Jedra – Association of lung cancer and other lung diseases patients] Sandra Karabatić, president of the Governing Council of the Croatian Professional Union of Nurses and Medical Technicians Anica Prašnjak, the vice dean of Education of the University of Applied Health Sciences Snježana Čukljek PhD, the chief editor of the Nursing Educational Portal Sandro Vidmanić, the president of the Croatian National Nurses Federation Adriano Friganović and medical technicians Mladen Marković, Đurđica Sunek and Valerija Crnica.
