President Milanović Meets with Local Leaders on Krk and Cres Islands
The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović, who is on a working visit today to the town of Krk and the town of Cres, met with leaders of the local island authorities. During the meeting in Krk, he spoke with the Mayor of Krk, Darijo Vasilić; the Head of Omišalj Municipality, Mirela Ahmetović; the Head of Punat Municipality, Daniel Strčić; the Head of Dobrinj Municipality, Neven Komadina; and the Head of Malinska-Dubašnica Municipality, Robert Anton Kraljić.
At the meeting held at the Krk Town Hall, President Milanović was briefed on development projects being jointly implemented across the entire island, and discussions were held on topics of critical importance to the island of Krk and its residents. In addition to local government leaders, the meeting with President Milanović included Nikša Franov, President of the Town Council of Krk; Council members Vanda Dunato, Milan Žužić, Helga Bendiš Žmirić, Josip Brusić, Ariana Staničić, and Dalibor Pahlić; Neven Hržić, Director of the company ‘Ponikve vode’ Ltd.; Danko Milohnić, Director of the company ‘Vecle’ Ltd.; Irena Žic Orlić, Director of the ‘Katarina Frankopan’ Kindergarten; Goran Grubišić, Commander of the Krk Fire Department; and Vedran Hajdin, Head of the Public Order Division of the town of Krk.
After visiting the island of Krk, President Milanović travelled to Cres, where he held a meeting with the Mayor of the town of Cres, Marin Gregorović. Also present were Marko Ferlora, Head of the Unified Administrative Department of the town of Cres; Željka Stašić, Director of the Cres Tourist Board; and Neven Kruljac, a board member of ‘Vodoopskrba i odvodnja’ Cres Lošinj Ltd. and ‘Komunalne usluge’ Cres Lošinj Ltd. During the meeting, representatives from the town of Cres presented various projects to President Milanović, including the construction of housing for essential workers on the island, addressing youth housing needs, and providing free kindergarten for all children. They also discussed the successes of green tourism on the island and the daily challenges faced by the island’s inhabitants.
President Milanović was accompanied by Bartol Šimunić, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic.
Later today on the island of Mali Lošinj, President Milanović will attend the opening ceremony of the 34th International Meeting of Winegrowers and Winemakers, Sabatina 2024, where this year’s awards will be presented to the laureates.
