The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the 16th ZeGeVege Festival of Sustainable Living today, organized by the association Friends of Animals at European Square in Zagreb. This year, around 60 exhibitors are participating in the festival, while 6 restaurants will showcase their gastronomic offerings. The festival will last three days instead of two this year, reflecting the growing interest and importance of topics related to sustainable living.

It is a festival that aims to promote a compassionate way of life, environmental protection, healthier eating, and the encouragement of positive lifestyle habits, while reducing the ecological footprint. ZeGeVege is part of the international Veganmania event, which takes place in Vienna, Munich, and 15 other European cities. ZeGeVege surpasses its sister festivals in terms of size, number of exhibitors, and attendance.

In addition to the City of Zagreb, the festival’s sponsors include the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb, the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food, the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Environment and Nature Conservation Committee of the Croatian Parliament, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

The association Friends of Animals is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 2001, with the goal of promoting the protection and rights of animals, as well as vegetarianism and veganism as ethical, ecological, and health-conscious lifestyles. They also participate in drafting legislation aimed at improving animal protection in Croatia.
